Planetary Nebulae and the Ionization of the Interstellar Medium in Galaxies

We discuss the role of planetary nebulae and their progeny in galaxy context terms ionization interstellar medium. This regards ionized gas outside disk spiral galaxies, diffuse medium weak line emission elliptical galaxies.
